Finding Distractions!
Sorry for the time in between posts but it seems as though there isn’t enough time to do everything lately. I’ve been dealing with a little bit of a pain increase probably because of all the stress related to the saga I’ll entitle “My Basement”. Who would have thought that six months later and I still wouldn’t have a basement. I don’t need to get into that because most of you already know what’s going on! It is however putting more stress on me than I’d like. However I am looking forward to heading to our small piece of paradise this week at our cottage on the lake. It always relaxes me and allows me to decompress a bit reducing the stress which causes the pain.
A highlight to my week however was booking my trip to Kauai for next Jan. Up until this week everything was in the planning stages however now the dates and accommodations are confirmed and now I get to sit back and wait. My goal is to get myself to a point physically so that I will be able to do some walking to the point of being able to go on a few short hikes. I’m leaving all of that in God’s hands! I’m also looking forward to getting some amazing photos to add to my portfolio.
It’s been a while since I really had any opportunity to get out taking any pictures. There’s just been to much going on, and so hopefully in the next week or so I plan on getting out and spending a little time with just my camera and the piece and quite of of countryside. I have so many great thoughts going through my head at the moment with what I want to photograph! I also have a few projects that I’d like to start working on, but those will have to wait until I find more time. The creative part of my photography is almost better than the end results. Sure it’s amazing to create the photo but it’s the work that goes on behind it that makes it so rewarding.
When I’m out there taking pictures it’s as if the pain and the disability are gone for a moment in time. Some days I think that my photography is better than any medicine could ever be! It’s been really hard over the last couple of months however because I just haven’t felt up to getting out with the camera after surgery. Hopefully now that things are on the mend however I’ll feel more up to going out. I’m especially looking forward to getting to Kauai to photograph it! It’s been on my list of places to shoot.
I try to keep myself busy which in turn helps to keep me distracted, however I do have to be careful that I don’t overdo things. Trying to distract myself too much can have the adverse affect on my illness as well. So it’s about trying to find that balance that works for you. Well I guess I’d better wrap things up because I really don’t have all that much more to say. I wish I had more to talk about but my brain is pretty tired and I have to try and get a little rest. See you all soon!
